The Ministry of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the Belarusian state-owned company Belaruskali, asking the High Anti-Corruption Court to confiscate its assets in Ukraine. The relevant information was published on the official website of the Ministry of Justice, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

As part of the lawsuit, the Ministry of Justice is demanding that the assets be transferred to state ownership:

  • Corporate rights in Agrorozkvit LLC, a subsidiary company operating in the agricultural sector.
  • Cash in circulation on the territory of Ukraine.
  • About 1,500 railroad cars managed by Ukrzaliznytsia.
  • Potash fertilizer stocks, which are gradually being sold through auctions by the National Asset Management Agency (ARMA).

If the court upholds the claim of the Ministry of Justice, the assets of the Belarusian company will become the property of Ukraine.

Why is Belaruskali under sanctions?

“Belaruskali is the largest producer of potash fertilizers in Belarus and one of the key contributors to the Lukashenko regime’s budget. The company is under sanctions by the National Security and Defense Council until 2033 for supporting Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.

The Ministry of Justice plans to prove in court that Belaruskali financially supports the war against Ukraine. In particular, the company has economic ties with the Russian military-industrial complex and the occupation administrations in eastern Ukraine.

“Belaruskali also provided transportation and accommodation for Ukrainian children taken from the temporarily occupied territories in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, and participated in the organization and financing of activities related to the support of the aggressor state’s policy of non-recognition of the right of the Ukrainian people to self-identification,” the Ministry of Justice said.
