About 7,000 applicants who have been accepted for a bachelor’s degree and received recommendations for state-funded studies have decided to give up their places. This information was provided by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
According to him, this situation is beginning to cause concern in the Ministry of Education and Science.
The reasons for such a significant number of refusals of state-funded places in higher education institutions in Ukraine are still unknown.
The Ministry suggests that this may be due to the fact that some applicants are physically abroad or choose private universities that do not have a state order.
“We suspect that among these 7,000 there is a part that chooses to study abroad. This indicates the need to increase the competitiveness of our higher education system,” Vynnytskyi said.
As reported, earlier the Ministry of Education and Science deprived contractual postgraduate students of deferment. Later, the State Regulatory Service allegedly recognised the relevant order as unlawful, but the Ministry of Justice did not cancel it.
