Musk calls Trump’s budget an “abomination” after breaking with the White House

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, immediately launched a scathing critique of one of President Donald Trump’s favorite initiatives after leaving the US government. On his own social network X, Musk wrote that the bill voted by the House of Representatives to cut taxes and increase funding for the army and the immigration service is “a huge, outrageous, corrupt and wasteful abomination,” "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Musk believes that the congressmen who voted for this document “know that they did the wrong thing.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t take it anymore. This huge, outrageous, fat-filled (unnecessary spending – ed.) budget bill of the Congress is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did the wrong thing. You know it,” the billionaire wrote.
Musk criticized the bill just days after he left the Trump administration. It is noted that Tesla’s CEO has long considered the US national debt an existential threat, but before that he had expressed only moderate criticism of Trump’s bill.
As the BBC has learned, the White House began “firing” Musk from his position as a special government employee on Wednesday evening.
His position was temporary, and his dismissal is not unexpected, but it comes a day after Musk criticized Trump’s tax law.
Musk was granted “special government employee” status, which allowed him to hold a federal position for no more than 130 days a year.
If we count from the date of Trump’s inauguration on January 20, Musk could have exhausted the limit of days allowed by the end of May.
But his resignation came a day after he said he was “disappointed” with Trump’s budget bill.
This refers to Trump’s legislative initiative called “One Big Beautiful Act,” which was unanimously supported by the US House of Representatives last week. The document was praised by Trump, who called it “perhaps the most important law in the history of the country.” At the same time, independent analysts have estimated that the implementation of this bill will increase the US national debt by more than $3.3 trillion over the next ten years.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), headed by billionaire Elon Musk, will cease to exist at “some point.”
