Billionaire plans to raise cattle and feed them beer
Mark Zuckerberg has started raising cattle, which he plans to breed with beer. The billionaire announced his farming ambitions on Instagram, and posted a picture of himself with a plate of steak.
“Started raising cattle at Koolau Ranch on Kauai and my goal is to produce the highest quality beef in the world. The cattle are Wagyu and Angus, and they will grow up eating macadamia flour and drinking the beer we grow and produce here on the ranch,” Zuckerberg wrote.
Wagyu and Angus are Japanese breeds of cattle that are sometimes given beer to whet their appetites.
Zuckerberg spent more than $100 million on a 280-plus hectare estate on Kauai, Hawaii, in 2014 and then added another 240 hectares in 2021 for $53 million, according to Mansion Global. That same year, he bought another 44 hectares of land on Kauai, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser newspaper reported at the time.
The estate where his ranch is located now covers about 600 hectares and includes a public beach. It will also house a huge complex with an underground bunker that is currently under construction. According to Zuckerberg, the estate even has an acre of macadamia trees, which his daughters helped plant. The girls also take care of the various animals on the ranch.
