Maguchikh sets world record in high jump

Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh has set a new season’s best result in the world in the high jump – 2.04 metres. This is reported by with reference to the National Olympic Committee.
Maguchikh won gold at the competition in Kottbus, Germany, setting a tournament record.
“Ukrainian Yaroslava Maguchikh opens the 2024 Olympic year with a confident victory. The reigning world high jump champion has just won the highest award at the World Athletics Tour Bronze category – International Jump Meeting in Cottbus (Germany), setting a competition record and the best result of the season in the world – 2.04!”

Maguchikh cleared 2.04 metres in her second attempt. The Ukrainian’s closest rival was German Imke Onnen, who cleared 1.94 metres.
on 27 August 2023, Maguchikh became the world high jump champion for the first time at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. In 2019 and 2022, she won silver medals.
