The IAEA continued its monitoring mission at substations key to NPP operation

Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency will continue to monitor the situation at the transmission system operator’s substations, which are critical for the operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

The parties agreed on a schedule of visits. The mission will reportedly take place at the designated facilities in turn.

The importance of the next IAEA mission’s presence at nuclear power plants was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, which took place last week at an extraordinary meeting of the Agency’s Board of Governors.

As you know, on December 12, 2024, the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at an extraordinary meeting initiated by Ukraine adopted by 22 votes the Ukrainian draft resolution on the threats posed by attacks on energy infrastructure, which is critical to the safety of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
