Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, in the context of teaching students aged 25, said that the right to education should not become a mechanism for abuse. The minister wrote about this on his Facebook page, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to Lisovyi, on June 20, he held a meeting with the rectors of higher education institutions in Lviv region with the participation of the head of the region, Maksym Kozytskyi, and the head of the State Service for the Quality of Education of Ukraine, Ruslan Gurak.
“We talked about fictitious education, in particular in the context of teaching students under the age of 25. I made it clear: heads of educational institutions are responsible for those who study in their institutions. We need to ensure that the right to education does not become a mechanism of abuse,” emphasized Lisovyi.
The minister noted that at this meeting he “clearly outlined” that the heads of educational institutions are responsible for those who study in their institutions.
“The right to education is not an indulgence from the duty to defend the state… This is not just a matter of legality, but also a matter of honor, professional reputation and civic responsibility,” emphasized Lisovyi.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Education Mykhailo Vynnytsky said that this year about 4-5 thousand postgraduate students who entered in 2022-2023 have already been expelled from Ukrainian universities.
As a reminder, in May 2024, a new law on mobilization came into force in Ukraine, according to which second or third higher education no longer provides the right to deferment.
