Liev to undergo public polygraph test
2 February 18:09Oleksandr Liev, a former official of the Ministry of Defence who is accused of organising a scheme to embezzle UAH 1.5 billion, will undergo a polygraph test in the presence of media representatives. He wrote about this on Facebook, reports
To prove his innocence in the public sphere, Liev decided to take a polygraph in the presence of the press.
“I appealed to the All-Ukrainian Association of Polygraph Examiners, they considered my appeal and confirmed their readiness to conduct a psychophysiological examination by their specialists. I invite all media representatives who are still interested in the truth to join me,”
– he wrote.
Oleksandr Liev was the acting head of the Ministry of Defence department from January 2022 to February 2023, when he was accused of having Russian citizenship and resigned of his own free will. on 27 January this year, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had exposed officials of the Ministry of Defence and the heads of the Lviv Arsenal plant in organising a scheme to embezzle funds from ammunition supply contracts worth UAH 1.5 billion. According to media reports, one of the defendants in the case is former Defence Ministry official Oleksandr Liev.
Liev writes that he is ready to answer all questions related to the case:
“In your presence, I will answer all the questions that lie in the plot of the suspicion handed to me on 27 January during my illegal detention. Namely:
- Did I receive any unlawful benefit (money, property, valuables, cryptocurrency, services) as a result of the contract with Lviv Arsenal LLC?
- Was I acquainted with Yurii Zbitnev, the head of Lviv Arsenal LLC, and Oleksii Khoroshaiev, a representative of Sevotech, at the time of the contract? And did he collude with them? Did I have any contacts with them other than official correspondence?
- Did I know in advance that this contract would not be fulfilled?
- Did I insist on the inclusion of a UAH 200 million penalty clause in the contract in the event of a breach of contract?
- Did I receive instructions from the leadership of the Ministry of Defence to enter into the contract with Lviv Arsenal?
- Did he intend to leave Ukraine to hide from the investigation?
- Is he ready to assist the investigation in establishing the truth in this case?”
Liiev’s lie detector test will take place on 5 February at 17:00.
