A box of live butterflies, a bucket of eggs, and… a cat: many things Ukrainians forgot on trains
11 January 12:42last year, 17,218 times passengers asked railroad workers to find things lost on trains and at stations. This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, “some finds are so unexpected that they raise only one question: “How?”
So, what did passengers forget on Ukrzaliznytsia trains in 2024? Here is a list of what was found, along with comments from railroaders:
– “A bucket of eggs. Given the price of eggs, this is a really painful loss.
– A bow for shooting. I wonder where that Robin Hood was going and why he left his main prop?
– A box of live butterflies. The good news is that not a single butterfly was hurt.
– A wet swimsuit in a bag. Well, it happens..
– A cat. Yes, a real one. Yes, it’s alive. How you can forget a furry friend is a mystery to us all.
– The meat grinder is electric. They were probably preparing for a grand feast, but something went wrong.
– A diamond cross with a chain is a memorable and very valuable thing.
– A wallet with $6000 – no comment here.
– The dog’s green jacket. One thing is clear: the dog is very stylish.”
In total, last year Ukrzaliznytsia passengers asked the railroaders 17,218 times to find their lost items on trains and at stations.
In 70% of cases, lost items are found and returned to passengers.
Ukrzaliznytsia urges passengers to check for valuables before leaving the train: headphones, power banks, gadgets, documents, wallets, jewelry, glasses, books, keys, socks, toothbrushes, screwdrivers…
