Confiscated property of former MP Tsarev will finally start to benefit Ukraine

The court found former MP Oleh Tsarev guilty in absentia of financing Russia’s armed aggression and sentenced him to eight years in prison. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi informs.

According to the case file, the former Party of Regions MP regularly finances the budget of the aggressor country by paying “taxes” for his recreational business in Crimea, and also finances the Russian Guard, which he pays to protect the above-mentioned facilities.

By court order, all property belonging to the convict is subject to confiscation.

In particular, the following property is to be confiscated for the benefit of Ukraine

– two property complexes in the temporarily occupied Crimea: the Kirova sanatorium and the Princess Baryatynska Estate museum, with a total value of over UAH 456 million

– an apartment in the center of Dnipro worth UAH 3.2 million;

– a land plot in the Kyiv region valued at UAH 1.3 million.

The total value of the property is UAH 460.6 million.

The investigation was conducted by the SBU in Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions under the supervision of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

As a reminder, former MP Oleh Tsarev is involved in several criminal proceedings. In May 2022, he was found guilty of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

In May 2023, the SBU announced a new suspicion against Oleg Tsarev – high treason committed under martial law.

on February 2, 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine seized Tsarev’s real estate and served him with a new suspicion of financing the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

Tsarev was a member of the Verkhovna Rada of four convocations, and was last elected from the now-defunct Party of Regions. In the spring of 2014, he ran for president, but withdrew his candidacy. In June of the same year, the Verkhovna Rada stripped him of his parliamentary immunity and agreed to his arrest on suspicion of separatism. Since then, Tsarev has been hiding in Russia.
