More than 1,000 companies and 167 individual entrepreneurs have joined the National Cashback programme as of 13 September 2024. Three of the companies on this list had Russian owners at the time of the full-scale invasion, and another business is still owned by a Russian. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to Opendatabot.
Almost a third of businesses are involved in food production – 326 businesses. Another 17% of companies are engaged in retail trade – 175 businesses. Wholesale trade ranks third with 146 companies or 14%.
According to Opendatabot, businesses from the capital took the most active part in the programme: 231 companies. Dnipropetrovs’k region follows with 112 companies, and Lviv region ranks third with 96 companies. Kyiv and Kharkiv regions are also in the ranking with 87 and 76 companies respectively.
The smallest number of businesses participated in the programme from the frontline regions – Kherson and Donetsk – 5 and 3 companies respectively. No companies from Luhansk region joined the programme.
Russian owners
Analysts point out that three companies that joined the National Cashback programme had Russian owners at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. However, all of them have now lost the Russian trace. These are businesses from Poltava, Cherkasy and Odesa regions.
It is reported that the owner of the company from Odesa region took Ukrainian citizenship after the start of the full-scale invasion, so the business got rid of the Russian trace legally.
It is noted that one of the businesses participating in the National Cashback programme is still owned by a Russian, according to the Opendatabot register of companies that had owners from the Russian Federation. This is the company Embawood Ukraine LLC, which manufactures furniture and is registered in Sambir, Lviv region.
“Last year, the company’s revenue was over UAH 180 million and its net profit was over UAH 10 million. Moreover, the business actively participates in government tenders: this year, the company has already won 2 tenders worth over UAH 914 thousand for the supply of furniture for a municipal enterprise in Kyiv and Ukravtodor,” the statement said.
It is worth noting that the company had problems due to its owner, who is affiliated with the aggressor country, even before the full-scale invasion in 2021.
As a reminder, 18.9 thousand companies with owners from the Russian Federation were recorded at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
