Former Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN Kyslytsia gets new position

Former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Sergiy Kyslytsya has been appointed First Deputy Foreign Minister. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

The relevant order was signed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on February 12.

“To appoint Kyslytsia Sergiy Olehovych as First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,” the document says.

It should be noted that from 2019 to 2024, Kyslytsia was Ukraine’s permanent representative to the United Nations.

Kyslytsia was dismissed from his post at the end of December last year during the rotations in the diplomatic sector conducted by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The politician gained popularity online due to his harsh statements about Russia’s representatives at the UN. In particular, he claimed that “Russia feels impunity while destroying Ukrainians.”

What is known about Serhiy Kyslytsya

He was born on August 15, 1969. He graduated with a degree in international law (Faculty of International Law, Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv). He is fluent in five languages: Ukrainian, English, Russian, Spanish and French.

Mr. Kyslytsia began his diplomatic career in 1992. He has held positions at embassies in various countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukraine’s missions to international organizations.

It is worth noting that from March 2014 to February 5, 2020, Kyslytsia served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

From 2019 to 2024, Kyslytsia was the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations.
