Ukrainians will have to live with blackout schedules at least until spring. This was stated by Deputy Energy Minister Roman Andarak on December 11, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

In a commentary to journalists, the official said that attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector do not actually stop. “Every day there is shelling, drone attacks, and attacks by CABs. The frontline regions suffer the most.

“The Russians understand very well how our energy system is built. They are trying to hit the most sensitive points and key energy hubs. We have also seen more intense attacks on substations, on medium voltage networks (these are substations of distribution system operators located in the frontline regions),” explained Andarak.

The Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine also emphasized that Russian troops are trying to destroy the generation of the Ukrainian military.

Even repairs of the power system do not help the situation.

“Repairs are underway. But, again, in recent days there has been a very powerful attack on the generation in the eastern part of Ukraine. Of course, power engineers are trying to restore it to the extent possible. But the system is working on the edge,” the official warned.

According to Roman Andarak, under favorable conditions, blackouts will be reduced.

“But enemy shelling is unpredictable. And we have a long winter ahead. Therefore, we will have to live with the blackout schedules at least until spring,” he summarized.
