Hackers tried to attack Ukrainian defense companies
9 December 14:42Hackers from the UAC-0185 group attempted to attack Ukraine’s defense companies and the Security and Defense Forces. They sent phishing emails. This was reported by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
It is reported that the attack began with phishing emails disguised as official messages from the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The emails contained an invitation to a conference on the transition of products of domestic defense industry enterprises to NATO technical standards, which took place on December 5 in Kyiv.
The letter contained a hyperlink “The attachment contains important information for your participation.” Clicking on this link and subsequent opening of the attached files could have led to a computer infection, the State Special Communications Service said.
According to the State Special Communications Service, the attack was carried out by the UAC-0185 group, which has been active since at least 2022.
The group focused on stealing the credentials of Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp messengers and military systems DELTA, TENET, Kropyva. Less frequently, they carried out cyberattacks to gain unauthorized remote access to computers of defense companies and representatives of the security and defense forces.
