Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) have completed an investigation into the director of a company that supplied Ukraine with helmets and bulletproof vests under the guise of humanitarian aid, allegedly for the needs of the National Guard, and then sold the ammunition. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the official Telegram channel of the BEB.

In particular, it is now known for certain that the head of the company, in order to obtain benefits for the import of military goods, provided customs authorities with fake letters of guarantee with false information about the final recipient. However, the protective helmets, ballistic plates and body armor were not transferred to the military unit. They were illegally sold in a specialized store in Kyiv and on an Internet site.

The investigation found that in this way, the suspect imported 4.7 thousand protective helmets, 3 thousand ballistic plates for body armor, and 1.7 thousand bulletproof vests into Ukraine in May-June 2022. In total, it was ammunition worth over UAH 40 million.

The suspect is charged with committing fraud with financial resources and violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control.
