CEO for Ukrenergo: there are fewer candidates for the position

The competitive selection for the position of Chairman of the Board of the private joint-stock company National Energy Company Ukrenergo was announced on February 5. Documents from those who wished to participate in the competition were accepted until March 14, 2025.
Who is running for the position of Ukrenergo CEO?
According to Energoreforma’s interlocutors, the list of three shortlisted candidates includes Oleksiy Brekht, the company’s acting CEO, Vitaliy Zaichenko, its chief dispatcher and board member, and another company representative, Ivan Yuryk, who deals with Eurobonds.
According to Energoreforma, Ivan Yuryk’s last position on Facebook is Chief Advisor to the CEO of Ukrenergo. Also, from 2018 to 2020, Ivan Yurik was a member of the Supervisory Board, a member of the Management Board, and for several months, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC. His other positions include head of the representative office of the American investment company Blackstone in Ukraine, chief of staff to the Minister of Finance, and deputy director of the Investment Promotion Office of the Government of Ukraine, UkraineInvest.
According to Ukrenergo’s website, Oleksii Brekht started his professional career in 1999 at the Kyivska PSP and later joined Ukrenergo. Since June 2022, he has been a member of the Management Board of NPC Ukrenergo, coordinating the operation and development of the grid, development of transmission system development plans for the long and short term, etc. He also has experience as a dispatcher and head of the dispatch service. In September 2024, he was appointed Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo.
Vitalii Zaichenko, who started working at Ukrenergo back in 1996, was appointed a member of the Management Board on November 20, 2024. In particular, he is responsible for the centralized operational and technological management of the United Energy System of Ukraine, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted electricity transmission, and compliance with the requirements of Ukraine’s energy security.
The Energoreforma publication reminds that on April 9, Oleksiy Brekht said in a commentary that, according to his information, 28 applications were submitted for the competition for the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo. At the same time, he predicted that the competition would last for several more weeks.

As a reminder, the previous CEO of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, was dismissed by the majority of the Supervisory Board on September 2. on September 3, independent members of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo Daniel Dobbeny and Peder Andreansen resigned because they considered the early dismissal of Volodymyr Kudrytskyi as politically motivated.
on December 11 last year, the process of forming a new Supervisory Board was completed, and on February 5, the Board announced a competition for the position of the Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo.
