During a meeting on 12 August, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed Deputy Energy Minister Oleksandr Hale, who was caught taking a half-million dollar bribe. This was reported on the government’s Telegram channel, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has dismissed Oleksandr Valeriyovych Hale from the post of Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
As a reminder, Hale was caught taking a half-million dollar bribe for granting permission to export mining equipment from the frontline area.
In return for half a million dollars, the official, using his powers, promised the heads of state-owned enterprises in the Lviv-Volyn coal basin to freely transfer mining equipment from the mines in the frontline region of Donetsk Oblast.
The equipment in question is unique and scarce for one of the state-owned coal companies located in the hottest area of the eastern frontline, Pokrovske.
In the spring of this year, representatives of the industry approached the Deputy Minister of Energy to obtain permission to evacuate the equipment from the war zone and use it at mines in the western region.
However, the official, who was responsible for the safety of mining equipment, demanded money for its removal.
