The Cabinet of Ministers has changed the procedure for payments to families of killed and missing soldiers
2 November 06:18The government has amended the procedure for providing one-time financial assistance to relatives of servicemen who have been declared missing or killed. Now families will be able to receive the payment within three years after the court decision. This was announced by Oleksiy Honcharenko, a member of the European Solidarity party, in his telegram channel, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“The amendments propose to calculate the three-year period from the date of entry into force of the court decision declaring the soldier dead. This will mean that families will not lose the right to assistance because of a missed deadline,” the MP said.
According to Honcharenko, currently the date of the right to death benefits is determined by the death certificate. This led to cases where families lost the right to assistance if a serviceman was reported missing or declared dead by a court later than the three-year period, as the countdown started from the date of death in the certificate, not from the date of the court decision.
Now they will be given a period of 3 years.
The Cabinet of Ministers also proposes to give people with group I disabilities the opportunity to receive a one-time allowance without waiting in line.
