Cabinet of Ministers cuts spending on veterans’ rehabilitation by 500 million: where the money went
23 October 10:06The Cabinet of Ministers has reallocated funds totalling about UAH 740 million provided for in the state budget for 2024 to finance programmes of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. This was announced by the government’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, Komersant Ukrainian reports
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers has reduced funding for the programme “Measures for mental, sports, physical, psychological rehabilitation and professional adaptation” by UAH 498.57 million.
These funds were allocated to other programmes of the Ministry of Veterans:
- uAH 453.72 million – for the payment of one-time financial assistance in case of death or disability, in accordance with the Law “On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection”;
- uAH 44.85 million – for the operation of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers reduced by UAH 241.62 million the expenditures under the programme “Subvention from the state budget to local budgets to support the activities of specialists in the support of war veterans and demobilised persons and certain measures to support persons who defended independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
These funds were used to pay subventions from the state budget to local budgets for the payment of monetary compensation for housing for families of combatants in other countries, as well as for persons with disabilities of groups I-II from among combatants in other countries.
