JYSK is an international Scandinavian chain of stores that manufactures and sells products for home and garden. JYSK’s resilience in the face of a full-scale invasion
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, JYSK has continued its development in the country, opening 20 new stores, renovating 17 existing stores and rebuilding 6 stores that were completely destroyed or damaged as a result of active hostilities.
In addition, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, JYSK has paid more than UAH 2 billion in taxes to the Ukrainian budget and purchased goods from Ukrainian producers worth about UAH 4 billion, 98% of which have been exported for sale in JYSK’s European stores.
CEO of JYSK Ukraine Yevhen Ivanitsa also said that more than 70 employees of JYSK Ukraine were drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, in order to support its employees serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, JYSK has allocated more than UAH 20 million during the last financial year alone.
Opening of the 100th store in Ukraine
on 3 October, the 100th JYSK store in Ukraine will be opened in Chernivtsi, at 248E Ruska Street, in the Equator shopping centre. This will be the second store in the city. The previous store in Chernivtsi was opened exactly five years ago, on 3 October 2019. On the occasion of the opening, customers will traditionally enjoy discounts and promotional offers, the company announced.
CEO of JYSK Ukraine Yevhen Ivanitsa also announced the opening of the first JYSK store in Kalush, which is expected to take place “in the near future”.
Charity collection in cooperation with the Come Back Alive Foundation
To celebrate its 20th anniversary in Ukraine, JYSK has launched a new charity project in cooperation with the Come Back Alive charity foundation called Add Movement to the Strength of the Spirit. The goal of this project is to raise UAH 10 million for adaptive sports equipment to support war veterans. You can support the collection by purchasing a themed charity sticker or a shopper bag at the JYSK checkout from 3 to 30 October.
Taras Chmut, the head of the Come Back Alive charity foundation, said that last year the foundation had already had a successful cooperation with JYSK. Last year’s project was related to “demining gnomes”, the proceeds of which were used to equip the newly created humanitarian demining battalions of the Support Forces Command. These are deminers who clear both the liberated territories and the frontline areas where hostilities are taking place.
In addition to direct involvement in numerous charity projects, since the beginning of the full-scale war, JYSK in Ukraine
- engaged more than 1 million customers in charity projects;
- invested about UAH 400 million in the development of the store network in Ukraine, allocating funds to open new stores, provide quality goods for Ukrainian homes and create new jobs.
