Starting in 2026, Apple will completely change the usual market rhythm: new iPhones will now appear in two waves. This was announced by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
In the fall of 2026, the company will present the top models – iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, 18 Slim, as well as the first folding iPhone in the lineup, which analysts have been waiting for at least the last five years.
At the same time, the basic iPhone 18 model will be delayed until spring 2027, which will be the first time the entire series will not be released at the same time.
What’s changing?
2025 will be the last classic iPhone launch cycle: the entire iPhone 17 line, including the new Slim version and the updated Pro Max, is expected to be released in the fall.
The new strategy has several key reasons:
1. Competition in China. In the domestic market, there is growing pressure from brands like Huawei and Xiaomi, which are actively playing in the mid-price and premium segment. Apple is forced to respond with a more flexible product policy.
2. Marketing focus. Apple is trying to “dilute” the emphasis – previously, Pro versions completely absorbed attention to new basic models. The spring release will give the iPhone 18 space for a separate advertising campaign and a separate wave of demand.
3. Folding phones are the new normal. The release of the foldable iPhone will focus attention on the premium segment. Apple is preparing to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, but in its own style – in a balanced and technologically sound manner.
4. Diversification of profits during the year. Two major releases instead of one may have a positive impact on Apple’s quarterly financial performance, especially in the second quarter, which has always been a “dead season” after the New Year’s peak.
For the market, this means a new era of product strategy. For investors, it is a signal that Apple is increasing its flexibility and responding more aggressively to the challenges of global competition.

2. Improved A18 Pro chipset. the iPhone 18 Pro will be powered by the A18 Pro chip, created using TSMC’s 3nm N3E process. This SoC has a 6-core processor (2 productive cores with a clock speed of 4.04 GHz and 4 efficient cores with a clock speed of 2.42 GHz), a 6-core graphics processor and a 16-core neural engine capable of performing 35 trillion operations per second. These improvements promise significant gains in performance, energy efficiency, and AI processing capabilities.
3. The main camera has a variable aperture. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature a variable aperture primary camera, allowing users to adjust the size of the aperture depending on lighting conditions. This feature aims to improve photo quality in a variety of conditions, from bright outdoor environments to low-light indoor scenes.
4. Improved display technology. Apple may introduce a new LTPO display panel in the iPhone 18 Pro that offers improved power efficiency and smoother refresh rates. This improvement is expected to provide users with a more responsive and visually appealing display experience.
5. Redesigned camera control interface. Building on the camera control button introduced in the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the iPhone 18 Pro may offer further improvements to the camera interface, providing users with more intuitive controls and advanced photography features.
