Investigation of corruption in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine: the Prosecutor General revealed new details

Kostin indicated that among the accused are high-ranking officials who, according to the investigation, were engaged in the purchase of inadequate-quality bulletproof vests. He added that one of these cases has already been referred to the High Anti-Corruption Court.
According to Kostin, under the leadership of the prosecutors of the specialized prosecutor’s office in the defense industry, two cases are being investigated, related to the purchase of low-quality body armor and personal protective equipment for a total amount of more than 1.4 billion hryvnias (UAH), as well as the purchase of low-quality winter uniforms for 945 million hryvnias (UAH), and embezzlement of state funds exceeding 250 million hryvnias (UAH).
In addition, the prosecutor noted that during 2023, more than 220 criminal proceedings related to corruption and violations in the field of military accounting were initiated, which is almost four times more than in 2022.
Kostin also reported that during the past year and in January 2024, suspicions were raised against 189 servicemen and employees of territorial centers of equipment and support services. This is three times more than the number of such suspicions in 2022.
