On January 10, Ukrainian MP Mykyta Poturaiev registered a draft resolution to reject the draft law on introducing a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the Establishment of the All-Ukrainian Day of Prayer.” This is evidenced by the data on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, according to Komersant ukrainskyi.
The text of the resolution reads:
“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine resolves: To reject the draft law on the introduction of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the establishment of the All-Ukrainian Day of Prayer” (Reg. No. 12336-1), submitted by the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Tretyakova G.M.”

This is a draft law submitted by MP Halyna Tretyakova on January 7, 2025.
In the explanatory note to the draft law on the introduction of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the Establishment of the All-Ukrainian Day of Prayer”, the author stated the following:
“February 24, 2022, changed the lives of millions of Ukrainians forever. On this day, the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which brought not only destruction, pain, and death, but also unprecedented crimes against humanity. It was the culmination of an aggression that has been going on since February 20, 2014, when Russia occupied the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. However, even in the darkest of times, the Ukrainian people did not give in. We have become an example of how a strong spirit and faith can overcome the most cruel enemy.”
Accordingly, Tretyakova’s initiative was to “establish February 24 as the All-Ukrainian Day of Prayer.”
Currently, both documents (Poturaiev’s draft resolution and Tretyakova’s draft law) are being considered by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.
