Car imports to Ukraine have almost halved

Over the two years of the full-scale war, car imports to Ukraine have decreased by almost 50%. This is reported by Opendatabot, citing data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the data, in 2023, 377,063 vehicles were imported to Ukraine, which is almost half as many as in 2021, when imports totalled 735,956 vehicles. Passenger cars accounted for 73.7% of new vehicles, followed by motorcycles (10.1%) and trucks (9.7%).

Theaverage age of imported cars in 2023 was 10 years, which is 2 years younger than in 2022. At the same time, more than half of the cars imported in 2023 were 10 years old or older. The oldest car to enter the country last year was a 1990 Toyota Supra.

Petrolcars are the most popular – 43% of all cars. Every third engine is diesel.

Most new cars were registered in Kyiv (11.5%), Lviv (10%) and Odesa (7.5%) regions.

The most popular brands among imports are Volkswagen (13.1%), Renault (9.2%) and Skoda (4.9%).
