The American billionaire Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), is gradually disappearing from the US public space. According to Politico, his name no longer appears in the statements of ex-President Donald Trump, who used to regularly mention Musk on his Truth Social social network. Also, mentions of the billionaire have disappeared from the official accounts of the White House, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Journalists note that such “silence” around Musk may be beneficial for the Republican Party, as sociological studies show that antipathy to Musk among Americans is now even greater than to Trump himself.
Since March, Musk has also stopped being used in Republican fundraising campaigns. One of the party’s representatives told reporters: “We’re done with him. He has terrible ratings. People hate him.”
In April, relations between Musk and Trump’s entourage became even more tense. In particular, the billionaire quarreled with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in the presence of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In addition, Trump was outraged that Musk was to appear at a closed Pentagon briefing on the strategy for action in the event of war with China.
In early April, Trump even said that DOGE would soon cease to exist because Musk would only be able to serve as a government official for 130 days.
