Goncharenko shared his insights: Trump will not recognize Russia’s territorial “acquisitions”

7 March 12:06

Recently, the topic of negotiations between the United States and Ukraine over the war that Russia has unleashed against our country has become one of the most discussed. Scandalous statements about the alleged possible surrender of Ukrainian territories have been appearing in the media, causing a wave of indignation and concern among Ukrainians. At the same time, the media mentions the backroom talks that former President Petro Poroshenko and Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko had with American politicians. Oleksiy Honcharenko, an MP from the European Solidarity party, shared insights on his Facebook page about the US position and its intentions regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

Some insights. The Trump administration will not recognize any territorial acquisitions of Russia“. That is, legally, the entire territory of Ukraine will be considered the territory of Ukraine, Honcharenko wrote.

According to him, legally, the entire territory of Ukraine will remain recognized as Ukrainian, and the United States will not support any attempts by Russia to legalize the occupation.

No ideas of the Russian Federation that we should legally give up our lands or that we should leave Zaporizhzhia or Kherson altogether will be supported or even discussed by the United States. We are exhaling, the MP explained.

Honcharenko also noted that there is no need to trust some headlines in the Western media, which can manipulate information:

“I say it again: do not follow the headlines of the Western media now. They are fake. They have started a political confrontation between Democrats and Republicans on the topic of Ukraine. This is very bad. But we don’t need to get involved.”

The MP added that none of the major Western allies are going to withdraw their support for Ukraine or “surrender” Ukrainian territories:

“What I can say for sure is that no one is going to give up Ukraine or give away our territories,” Honcharenko summarized.

Trump’s team has been in contact with the Ukrainian opposition

Earlier, Politico reported, citing its own sources, that four senior officials from US President Donald Trump’s team had held talks with Yulia Tymoshenko and senior members of the European Solidarity party. The talks, according to media reports, focused on whether Ukraine could hold early presidential elections.

“Trump aides are confident that Zelenskiy will lose any election because of war fatigue and public frustration with rampant corruption,” Politico writes.

The publication also cited a poll conducted by the British sociological company Survation last week, which showed that 44% of Ukrainians support Zelenskyy in the presidential election.

Petro Poroshenko’s reaction

Ukraine’s fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, responded to Politico’s report and confirmed that his team is working “publicly and transparently” with American partners to maintain bipartisan support for Ukraine.

“The essence of our conversations with representatives of the American side has always boiled down to two principles – security first and peace through strength. Namely, weapons, intelligence, sanctions against Russia, financial support, democratic resilience, and transatlantic unity,” Poroshenko explained.

According to him, the European Solidarity team has always been categorically against elections during the war. Poroshenko emphasized that they are possible only after the ceasefire and the signing of a peace agreement with security guarantees for Ukraine.

“Unlike the government, which is trying to buy votes by taking money from the army, as well as eliminating political opponents with unconstitutional and extrajudicial sanctions, which is a politically motivated persecution and a scenario of preparation for the elections,” he added.

Tymoshenko’s reaction

Yulia Tymoshenko said that the Batkivshchyna team is also negotiating with all allies who can help Ukraine to secure a just peace as soon as possible.

“Until then, and I have said this more than once, holding any elections in Ukraine is out of the question,” she added.
