The Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo has decided to dismiss the company’s CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
Zheleznyak considers it a struggle “for flows”.
“Ukrenergo is the only one that “built protective structures properly” and stocked up on additional equipment in time for quick replacement, he writes.
The MP predicts a negative reaction from Western donors to the resignation of the company’s CEO.
“Now you will see the reaction of international donors and the consequences of this decision. I think the payoff will be quick and quite painful,” Zheleznyak concluded.
Oleksiy Brekht, Deputy Chairman of the Board, will act as the Head of Ukrenergo.
Three members of the supervisory board from the state – Yuriy Tokarskyi, Oleksandr Baraniuk, Yuriy Boyko, and one independent member – Roman Pionkovskyi – voted for the dismissal. Two other independent members voted against. Kudrytskyi’s last day of work is 4 September.
It should be noted that the decision to dismiss Kudrytskyi was made after the shelling on 26 August. According to the sources, on 30 August, the staff reshuffle was discussed at the Stavka, with the official reason being the failure to protect energy facilities, which led to significant damage as a result of the Russian attack.
On 30 August,Ekonomichna Pravda reported, citing sources, that President Zelenskyy allegedly asked Ukrenergo CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi to resign at a meeting of the Board of Directors. He refused.
According to Forbes, Ukrenergo’s supervisory board held an urgent meeting late in the evening on 2 September.
Kudrytskyi will remain in the post of Ukrenergo’s board chairman until 4 September.
Volodymyr Kudrytskyi became the Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrenergo on 2 August 2020. He works under a contract that expires in August 2025. Previously, Kudrytskyi was a state representative on the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine and Development Director at Ukrtransnafta. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Restoration of Okhmatdyt.
