The World Economic Forum has begun searching for a new chairman after its founder Klaus Schwab resigned as chairman of the Board of Trustees.

This was reported by the Forum’s press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Following my recent announcement, as well as the fact that I am turning 88, I have decided to resign as chairman and member of the Board of Trustees, with immediate effect,” Schwab said.

At an extraordinary meeting on April 20, the Board of Trustees took note of Shvab’s resignation. The board unanimously appointed Vice Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe as interim chairman.

The Board of Trustees also established a search committee to select a candidate for the position of the Forum’s next chairman.

The World Economic Forum is an international non-governmental organization based in Geneva that promotes international cooperation.
