Romanian General Staff names the next target of the Russian Federation

Romanian Chief of General Staff Vlad Georgice has warned of a potential threat to Moldova if the Russian Federation wins its war against Ukraine. Georgice said this in an interview with Europa Liberă, according to

According to him, Russia’s victory over Ukraine could make Moldova the next target of aggression.

Georgice stressed the concern felt by the population of Romania and other EU countries over the developments in Ukraine.

“We have to be in a state of readiness. If Russia wins, Moldova will be its main target, which will lead to increased tensions in the Western Balkans,” he said,

– he said.

Georgice added that all European countries should now think about preparing their populations.

In the context of recent events, Moldovan President Maia Sandu has previously mentioned Russia’s attempts to influence voters and conduct propaganda. Last October, Moldova took action against Russian propaganda by blocking access to 22 propaganda channels.

President Sandu also pointed to an ongoing threat from Russia, including possible attempts to destabilise the government in Chisinau using Transnistria this spring.
