Major General Mykhailo Drapaty is appointed as the new Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
29 November 17:19“The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the appointment of Mykhailo Drapaty as the new commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of state announced this personnel decision following today’s meeting of the Chief of Staff, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to the President of Ukraine, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported separately to the Staff on the situation at the front and in the areas of the Kursk operation, and several personnel decisions were made together with the Commander-in-Chief.
Mykhailo Drapatyi, who successfully organized defense in the Kharkiv sector and thwarted the Russian offensive, was appointed the new Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleh Apostol, an experienced commander of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade, has been appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Both have proven their effectiveness in combat.
“The main task is to significantly increase the combat capability of our army, ensure the quality of training and introduce innovative approaches to human resources management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state,” the Head of State emphasized.
He also said that the meeting was focused on energy: eliminating the consequences of Russian strikes and protecting facilities. All responsible leaders were heard and tasks were set to strengthen air defense and relevant negotiations with partners.
