Despite the fact that Ukraine already has F-16 aircraft in service, Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities have not stopped. "Komersant Ukrainian" asked Konstantin Krivolap, an aviation expert and former engineer at the Antonov Design Bureau, why the famous and long-awaited aircraft do not save Ukrainians from shelling.

“The F-16 is not a solid shield that protects against everything and everyone. These fighters are designed to shoot down cruise missiles, drones, shaheds, and destroy enemy targets, but they cannot intercept ballistic missiles,”

– explains Kryvolap in an exclusive commentary and adds that the issue of quantity is also important. After all, the aircraft we have been given are not enough to shoot down cruise missiles, let alone ballistic missiles. The latter, he said, are impossible to shoot down.

“The F-16 cannot shoot down ballistic missiles, no fighter jet can shoot down ballistic missiles. There is simply no weapon that can shoot down ballistic missiles from an aircraft platform. There is no such weapon at all, not that we have not been given such a weapon, but it does not exist at all,”

– says Kryvolap.

As reported , today Russia struck Poltava with ballistic missiles: 41 dead, 180 wounded.
