The Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized the use of the Dzhura-EVAK evacuation armored vehicle in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Main Directorate for Life Cycle Support of Weapons and Military Equipment, the Ministry of Defense said, according to Komersant ukrainskyi.
“Dzhura-EVAK is manufactured at a Ukrainian enterprise that has many years of experience in the production of armored vehicles. The evacuation vehicle has a powerful diesel engine, a 4×4 wheel formula and a reliable manual transmission,” the statement said.
As noted, to perform tasks in off-road conditions and difficult terrain, the manufacturer has improved the chassis of the vehicle, installed reinforced front and rear suspensions, off-road tires, strengthened brakes, etc.
In addition, the evacuation vehicle has a modular layout and can accommodate six people, including the driver and an accompanying combat medic. The body of this evacuation vehicle has ballistic protection against small arms bullets, shrapnel, explosions of engineered ammunition, etc.
“In the war against the Russian aggressor, when the enemy does not adhere to any conventions and uses various means of destruction against medics and their vehicles, evacuating a wounded soldier is often a difficult and dangerous task. And here, evacuation vehicles play a crucial role. Its driving characteristics, ballistic protection, and the availability of means to counter attacks by enemy UAVs. Often, the chances of successfully completing evacuation tasks in difficult situations depend on these factors,” said Deputy Defense Minister Valeriy Churkin.
According to him, the Defense Forces are currently using many models of various domestic and foreign vehicles to evacuate wounded soldiers from the battlefield: armored vehicles on wheeled or tracked chassis, all-terrain vehicles, light maneuverable buggies and ATVs, and robotic platforms.
In particular, depending on the resources and combat situation, the most appropriate type of transport is used to evacuate the wounded. Churkin also added that “replenishing the fleet of evacuation armored vehicles means more opportunities to save our soldiers.”
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Dzhura-EVAK is equipped with important systems for transporting the wounded: it has video surveillance, light camouflage, means of countering enemy UAV attacks, ventilation, air conditioning, an automatic stretcher loading system, etc.
The press service also reminded manufacturers of weapons and military equipment that useful information on the procedure for codifying new models of weapons and military equipment is available here.
