Emergency power outages: restriction schedules are in effect in 9 regions

3 February 10:15

Today, February 3, schedules of emergency power outages have been introduced in 9 regions of Ukraine – Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, Cherkasy and Kyiv. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to Ukrenergo.

As a result of missile and drone attacks on generation facilities and damage to transmission networks by the enemy, emergency blackouts were introduced in Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Dnipro (partially), Cherkasy (partially) and Kyiv (partially) regions in the morning.

As of 8:30 a.m. today, February 3, electricity consumption was 3.3% higher than on the previous business day, Friday, January 31. The reason is a drop in air temperature in most regions.

Yesterday, February 2, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 1.2% lower than the previous Sunday’s maximum on January 26.

DTEK said that emergency blackouts were introduced in Dnipropetrovska and Donetska oblasts on Ukrenergo’s orders.

“By order of NPC Ukrenergo, emergency power outages have been introduced. The outage schedules are not in effect. Please save electricity if you currently have it to help stabilize the system,” said the press service of DTEK Dnipro Power Grids.

Kirovohradoblenergo reported that emergency power outage schedules had been introduced in the region since 8:25 a.m. on Monday.

“According to the order of NPC Ukrenergo, a schedule of emergency outages (SOU) has been put into effect according to the operating mode of the IPS of Ukraine,” the company’s website says.

It is noted that in the case of simultaneous implementation of the SAR and LRP, the outage time according to your schedule may be increased.

Schedules of emergency shutdowns in the Sumy region have also been introduced.

It is noted that the reason for the use of emergency outage schedules is grid overload.

“In the Sumy region, they are in effect for the 1st and 2nd queues. The queue for gas distribution is displayed in real time at the time of the outage on the website of JSC Sumyoblenergo in the section “Consumers” – “Outages” at your address or personal account number. The queue for emergency outage schedules does not coincide with the queue for hourly outages. Hourly outage schedules do not apply,” Sumyoblenergo said.

Poltavaoblenergo also announced the introduction of emergency outage schedules from 8:25 a.m. on Monday.

“According to the order of NPC Ukrenergo, on February 3 at 8:25 a.m., we received a command to maintain the 1-2 stage of gas storage facilities,” the statement said.

Power engineers promise to promptly inform consumers in case of changes.

It should be noted that emergency blackouts are applied due to an acute power shortage in the power system, in particular, due to emergencies at power plants or equipment overload. It is impossible to warn consumers in advance of such outages, as they must be performed immediately. Therefore, the duration of the outages and the list of settlements are also unknown.
