Ex-official accused of embezzlement of UAH 8 million during TruCam procurement: case in court

An indictment has been sent to court against the former deputy head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects on charges of negligence that caused serious consequences. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

It is noted that the former official overpaid UAH 8 million when purchasing TruCam speed meters.

According to the investigation, in 2020, the accused headed the tender committee of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects. At that time, the agency was purchasing 72 units of laser speed meters for the National Police.

“During the procurement procedure, the accused, as the chairman of the tender committee, made an unreasonable decision to purchase speed meters by negotiating with a specific supplier instead of announcing a public procurement As a result, the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine accepted the offer of this company in the amount of UAH 33.5 million,” the prosecutor’s office said.

It was established that due to the restriction of competition during the procurement, the cost of the purchased speed meters was unreasonably inflated by UAH 8 million, which was paid from the state budget.

The sanction of the article provides for up to 5 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, as well as a fine of up to 750 tax-free minimum incomes.
