Former NABU head Sytnyk dismissed from the post of deputy head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. What is known

The head of the Defense Procurement Agency, Arsen Zhumadilov, has dismissed his deputy, former head of the National Anti-Corruption Agency, Artem Sytnyk.

The Defense Procurement Agency announced this in response to a request from the Anti-Corruption Action Center, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The reason for Sytnyk’s dismissal is “reduction in the number of employees”.

What does the AntAC say?

The AntAC says that Zhumadilov “destroyed” the internal control system created by Artem Sytnyk, which helped the Defense Ministry to buy weapons directly from manufacturers or first-tier suppliers.

“The dismissal of Artem Sytnyk is another step by which Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Arsen Zhumadilov ensure convenient and loyal control over the agency by the ministry. In other words, they are actually turning an independent agency into a department of the Defense Ministry, as it was before the reform to create the Defense Agency,” the Anti-Corruption Action Center states.

Artem Sytnyk became deputy head of the Agency in June 2024.

He was expected to be responsible for the internal security of the Agency’s work, verification of contractors and control over the proper execution of public contracts, as well as for building cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

Prior to that, Sytnyk served as deputy head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption from May 2022 to June 2024.
