Ex-director of “Forests of Ukraine” branch suspected of fraud with millions

The former head of one of the branches of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” was notified of suspicion of illicit enrichment and declaration of false information. This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
What the investigation found
According to the investigation, during 2022-2023, the official acquired assets worth UAH 44.3 million, which significantly exceed his legitimate income.
In addition, in the declaration for 2023, filed as a person authorized to perform state functions, he indicated false information in the amount of more than UAH 46.4 million.
What was found during the search
During the search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers seized a large amount of cash:
- uSD 650 thousand, EUR
- 481 thousand euros,
- 500 thousand hryvnias.
The suspect was detained
He is currently in custody, the issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation.
