Starting from February 10, 2025, a new electronic service for early notification of the use of plant protection products will be available in the State Agrarian Register for business entities as part of the launch of the first stage of eBeekeeping. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, according to [Kommersant].

The main task of the eBeekeeping service is to help beekeepers protect bees from poisoning and organize controlled pollination.

Thanks to the service of early notification of the use of plant protection products, farmers will be able to:

– Keep a log of land treatment with plant protection products;

– Apply for a beekeeper to locate an apiary;

– Select a beekeeper from the list of those who have offered their services;

– Select the period for the planned treatment with plant protection products;

– Select plant protection products from the register;

– Select land plots to be treated;

– Inform local governments on whose land the plant protection products are to be used;

– Inform beekeepers whose apiary is located within a radius of 8 kilometers near the treated areas;

– To automatically calculate the recommended number of bee colonies per area of plots sown with the selected type of crop.

In turn, beekeepers will be able to:

– Integrate the State Agrarian Register with the register of beekeepers;

– Set the geo-position of the apiary;

– Send a beekeeper’s response to applications from farmers;

– Apply for a search for farmers who need pollination;

– Select the type of crop to be grown;

– Select the land plots where the crop is grown.

The new e-service is fully integrated with other systems such as the State Register of Pesticides and Agrochemicals Permitted for Use in Ukraine, the Apiary Passport Register, the Trembita system, and also interacts with local governments through the connection of notification services.

What is happening with the development of beekeeping in Ukraine?

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, as of January 1, 2022, the number of bee colonies in the country was 2686 thousand. Over the two years of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the number of bee colonies decreased by 13.8% to 2,314 thousand. [Kommersant]talked about this.

As Volodymyr Postoenko, director of the National Research Center “Institute of Beekeeping,” explained, the Ukrainian beekeeping industry, like a number of others, has no reliable statistics, as only 5% of beekeepers are engaged in industrial production, and the remaining 95% are households. They, in turn, are in no hurry to register their apiaries, which is why reporting on their activities is approximate.

What other services can farmers use

on July 5 last year, the eFish electronic system was launched in Ukraine. At that time, four components of the system were presented, which regulate a number of aspects of commercial fishing: an electronic contract, a permit, a logbook, and an electronic tag. Komersant ukrainskyi also talked about this.

on October 10, 2024, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food launched the eLivestock service. This is an electronic portal for registering breeding entities and breeding achievements in livestock.

On December 1 last year, the electronic system of registers in the field of crop production “ePlants” was launched. The components of the electronic system of registers in the field of crop production include the Variety Database, which consists of interconnected electronic registers.
