Ukraine will be represented by Artem Kotenko from Okhtyrka, Sumy region, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, which will take place in Madrid (Spain) on 16 November. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi.
This year, the conditions for participation in the contest have changed slightly. To represent Ukraine on the European stage, young singers had to record two covers and a personal video presentation. Despite this, about 19% of the participants additionally submitted an original composition for consideration.
In total, 309 participants applied for the national selection this year, of whom only six made it to the final based on their participation in the summer “star school”.
Six participants performed in the final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest:
- Anastasia Belibova – “Unbelievable”
- Angelina Glogus – “The Angels Are Crying”
- Zlata Ivaniv – “Necklace”
- Veronika Kogan – “Harmony”
- Artem Kotenko – “Home”
- Ilya Konovchenko – Spaceship.
Artem won the national selection on 22 September with his song “Home”. The 12-year-old boy received 6 points from the audience and 5 points from the jury.
Artem was very moved and could not hold back his tears.
Artem Kotenko will perform the song “Home” in the final of the song contest in Madrid, which is dedicated to Ukrainians who lost their homes or were forced to leave them because of the war.
the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Spain for the first time in history. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 final will take place on 16 November at the Caja Mágica arena in Madrid.
