The second season of The Squid Game received 126.2 million views in 11 days after its release, a record for all Netflix series, Komersant ukrainskyi reports citing Variety.

Also, the sequel to The Squid Game took second place in the ranking of the most popular non-English-language Netflix series of all time.

It is ahead of only its first season, which gained 265.2 million views in 91 days after its release.

The second season of the popular show is in fourth place in the overall ranking, including English-language series. It is followed by its first season, Veep, and the fourth season of Stranger Things.

It is also worth noting that the rating of the Squid Game sequel on the popular movie review site Rotten Tomatoes is 84% according to critics and 63% according to viewers.

The series became the most popular non-English-language series of the week from December 30 to January 5, as well as the most popular series of the week on Netflix in general.

It should be noted that the first season of The Squid Game, which was released in 2021, became the most popular in Netflix’s history. In the first month, the series gained the attention of 142 million Netflix subscribers. It became the first foreign language series to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award.

What is The Squid Game about?

The plot of the series revolves around a mysterious survival game watched by the powerful. In the first season, 456 people with financial problems accept an invitation to participate in the game.

For six days, they must play one childish game at a time, and losing means death. The winner (and the only one who survives) receives 45.6 billion won (USD 38.5 million).

The final third season of the series will be released in 2025.
