Researchers from the University of Turku in Finland have developed an innovative method that can potentially detect cancer using a urine sample.
This was reported by Yle, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The researchers used biosensors based on bacteriophages.
Abacteriophage is a virus that infects bacteria, and a biosensor is an analytical device that uses biomolecules, a living organism, or parts of an organism to detect a signal.
During the study, prostate cancer was detected in the urine samples, which was classified as metastatic.
It is noted that the study itself was conducted by the University of Turku, biotechnology company Aqsens Health Oy and the University Hospital of Turku and the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS).
