The State Bureau of Investigation has completed an investigation into large-scale financial irregularities at the State Emergency Service. Officials will be brought to trial for fraud worth more than UAH 5 million. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the press service of the SBI.
The case of embezzlement of property by the head of one of the central departments of the SES and the head of one of the departments of the Main Department of the SES in Kyiv, who organized the purchase of equipment at inflated prices, was sent to court.
In 2023, a SES official illegally wrote off computer equipment that, according to the regulations, should have been permanently on the balance sheet of the department. In addition, the term of its possible operation had not yet expired.
As a result of these actions, the state suffered losses of almost half a million hryvnias.
In turn, an official of the Kyiv State Emergency Service approached the management of the department with a proposal to purchase a CT scanner. At the same time, she personally identified private companies to which inquiries were sent to formulate the expected cost of the procurement item.
During the bidding process, she selected as the winner the only bidder who offered a higher price for the equipment than the official representative of a German manufacturer selling similar equipment in Ukraine.
The conclusions of the examinations confirm that the purchases were made at inflated prices, which caused losses to the state of more than UAH 5 million.
Both officials are charged with embezzlement of property by abuse of office committed on a large scale under various parts of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the charged article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years.
Measures are being taken to compensate for the losses incurred by the state.
