The National Bank of Ukraine is in the final stages of introducing restrictions on p2p transfers for individuals. This was announced by Deputy Governor of the NBU Dmytro Oliynyk, reports Komersant ukrainskyi reports with reference to Ekonomichna Pravda.
The NBU has already decided on the limit.
“The limit is UAH 100,000 per month for outgoing payments,”
– oliynyk said.
According to him, this restriction will not apply to transfers to volunteers.
“Volunteers will be treated separately. Banks will make lists on their side, and they will be able to exchange them. Plus, the biggest volunteers are now identified in the bank, so we believe that the likelihood of problems will be minimal,”
– oliynyk added.
The new rules may come into force on 15 September 2024, a month after the official announcement.
NBU Governor Andriy Pyshny said the decision was aimed at combating drop schemes and protecting citizens.
“We have been communicating the issue of these drops not only as a danger to the state budget, but also as a danger to individuals. After all, when you give your data, card, and account to someone else, you are responsible for everything that is done with this account,”
– Pyshnyi said.
The NBU has already held several meetings with volunteers to discuss the new rules and answer questions. Pyshnyi added that changes to the legislation are also needed to effectively combat drop schemes.
