Ukraine’s national debt has reached a historic high

As of the beginning of 2024, Ukraine’s total public debt amounted to USD 145.32 billion. THIS IS AN INCREASE FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR. At the beginning of 2022, it stood at USD 111.45 billion. Thus, during the year, the public debt increased by USD 33.87 billion (or more than 30%) and reached a historic high for the entire period of Ukraine’s recent independence. Such conclusions can be drawn from the statistics of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, reports

Ukraine’s national debt is 94% of this amount, or $136.59 billion. 65% or $94.79 billion is external debt, and 28% or $41.80 billion is domestic debt. The state-guaranteed debt is 6% or USD 8.73 billion.

In December last year, the total public debt of Ukraine increased by USD 4.49 billion.

Overall, the level of Ukraine’s public debt broke another record and is now the largest in Ukraine’s history.
