Ukraine’s national debt exceeded UAH 6.6 trillion: data for 11 months

As of November 30, 2024, Ukraine’s public and publicly guaranteed debt amounted to UAH 6.645 trillion, or $159.74 billion. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to data from the Ministry of Finance.
Namely: state and state-guaranteed external debt – UAH 4,770.12 billion (71.79% of the total amount of state and state-guaranteed debt), or $114.68 billion; state and state-guaranteed internal debt – UAH 1,874.56 billion (28.21%), or $45.07 billion.
Ukraine’s own public debt (the total amount of Ukraine’s debt, which consists of all issued and outstanding debt obligations – Ed.) amounted to UAH 6,365.47 billion (95.80% of the total amount of public and publicly guaranteed debt), or $153.03 billion.
In terms of internal and external borrowings, the state external debt amounted to UAH 4,557.48 billion (68.59% of the total state and state-guaranteed debt), or $109.57 billion. The state domestic debt amounted to UAH 1,807.99 billion (27.21% of the total state and state-guaranteed debt), or $43.47 billion.
The state-guaranteed debt (the total amount of debt obligations of business entities – residents of Ukraine on received and outstanding loans (credits), the fulfillment of which is secured by state guarantees – Ed. In particular: state-guaranteed external debt – UAH 212.64 billion (3.20%), or $5.11 billion; state-guaranteed domestic debt – UAH 66.57 billion (1.00%), or $1.60 billion.
In November 2024, the amount of Ukraine’s debt increased by UAH 231.12 billion in the hryvnia equivalent, and by USD 4.37 billion in the dollar equivalent.
Since the beginning of the year, the national debt has increased by UAH 1.125 trillion or USD 14.43 billion.
Borrowings in November
In November, the government’s foreign currency accounts with the NBU received $6.678 billion. Of this amount:
- uSD 4.788 billion from the World Bank (US assistance)
- 1.350 billion dollars from the United States;
- 235.0 million dollars from Japan;
- 191.9 million dollars from the placement of foreign currency government bonds;
- 99.9 million dollars – from South Korea;
- uSD 12.9 million – from other partners.
The average exchange rate increased by 0.3% to UAH 41.35 per dollar over the month.
