The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine wants to restore “quality control of pharmaceutical services in pharmacies”. The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Care and Health Insurance addressed the government with a proposal. This was announced by its chairman Mykhailo Radutskyi, reports .
“Our committee receives complaints about the sale of counterfeit medicines and poor quality of service in pharmacies. But due to the moratorium on inspections of pharmacies during the war, we do not know for sure whether there are massive violations,”
– radutskyi explained.
According to him, it is necessary to resume inspections because “there is a tendency to increase the number of complaints from citizens about poor quality services in pharmacies.” The MP claims that the “trend” is as follows: in 2022, MPs counted 107 complaints, and in 2023 – as many as 114, which is 7 complaints more.
According to the Ministry of Health, after the full-scale Russian invasion, more than 10,500 pharmacies have been operating in Ukraine, the vast majority of which are open daily from morning to evening, and some of which are open around the clock. This means that approximately one complaint is received for every 93 pharmacies in the country over the course of the entire year of operation.
