Where to earn a million in 2 months: a study by Work.ua has an answer not only to this question

23 January 10:56

Which vacancies are ready to receive hundreds of responses a day, where the greatest need for employees is felt, and who are the record holders in terms of the number of offers – Work.ua portal summarized the informal results of the past year in its new study, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

In 2024, the Ukrainian labor market remained uneven. Exactly one third of the vacancies (literally 33.33%) were for jobs in the capital and Kyiv region. 8% of all offers were for work in Lviv and Dnipro regions, as well as remotely. That is, half of all vacancies were for work in Kyiv and Lviv regions and remotely, and another half were for work in other 22 regions of Ukraine.

Which companies posted the largest number of vacancies

The top twenty retail chains have the largest number of vacancies – 7, and the top five also have the most:

“Fora – 3,964 job offers per year;

“Aurora – 3,514;

“ATB – 3,485;

“Silpo – 3,220;

“Nova Poshta – 3,157.

The list goes on to include Eva, PrivatBank, ANC Pharmacy, Novus, MHP, Ukrposhta, Prostor, Imperia HR, RetailGroup, Dnipro-M, OKKO, Podorozhnyk, WOG, DTEK, and Pharmacy 911.

What offers from employers were most in demand

In its monthly labor market surveys, Work.ua emphasizes the particularly high competition among job seekers for remote jobs and jobs in the IT sector. Job seekers respond 5 times more actively to telecommuting than to offline work. Sometimes vacancies receive an incredible number of responses in 1 day.

The record holder for this indicator was the Front-End Developer vacancy, for which the employer received as many as 555 responses in 1 day. The employee was expected to have experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as knowledge of basic frameworks.

another job for Front-End Developer received 490 responses per day, where they were looking for a candidate with skills in Git, HTML, Saas, and third-party libraries.

472 responses in 1 day were received by an employer who was looking for a Direct Manager (an online store order processing specialist). Although the job required work in an office in Kyiv and offered a below-average salary, job seekers were interested in the offer.

In total, among the 10 vacancies that received the most responses in 1 day, there were 5 job offers for Front-end developers, 4 for direct managers, and 1 for a content manager.

What vacancies are most in demand

On Work.ua, employers post job offers in 28 categories. More than half (53%) of all responses are received for jobs in 7 categories:

“Sales, purchasing”

“IT, computers, Internet;

“Administration, middle management;

“Marketing, advertising, PR;

“Secretariat, office work, general administration;

“Service sector”;

“Retail trade.

Interestingly, “IT, computers, Internet” and “Marketing, advertising, PR”, which are not even among the top ten categories with the largest number of vacancies, receive almost ⅕ of all responses on the site (18%). This indicates that competition in these areas is extremely high.

Who received the most attention from employers

The record holders in terms of the number of offers from employers in 1 month were sales consultants – 5 job seekers received about 200 job offers each. All of them were looking for work in Kyiv and had minimal experience. The most popular was a job seeker who was offered a job 207 times in October 2024.

But recruiters mostly work with candidate feedback. By the way, they usually do not process them immediately. On average, it takes 102 hours from the moment a candidate responds to a job posting to the opening of a resume, which is 4 days and 6 hours. Compared to 2023, recruiters have become 5 hours faster. However, there are exceptions to this: several recruiters opened a job seeker’s resume within seconds of the moment he or she applied for a job.

Most likely, these resumes were from Oleksandr or Anastasiia – these names are the most popular among job seekers. Andrey and Sergey, Victoria and Tatiana are not far behind.

Where to earn half a million hryvnias a month

Work.ua has an answer to this question as well. In 2024, the portal posted 8 vacancies where candidates were willing to pay UAH 500,000 per month. What skills are employers willing to pay so generously?

An income of UAH 450,000 to 650,000 per month was promised to a realtor specializing in luxury real estate abroad. The candidate was expected to have a university degree in real estate, business or marketing, at least 5 years of experience in the luxury real estate segment, excellent knowledge of the international market and fluency in English.

Up to UAH 600,000 was offered to a specialist for the position of Senior Smart Contract Engineer. The employer was looking for a candidate with 4 years of experience in software development, at least 2 years of experience with blockchain projects, as well as critical thinking and an inquisitive mind.

Among the top jobs in terms of salary, there were two offers for media buyers. Here, the requirements are more loyal: from 6 months to 1 year of experience with Facebook Ads. Also, more than UAH 500,000 was offered for Blockchain Developer, Full-stack developer, and Head of Security.

By the way, the interest in various vacancies is expected to be high this year as well. Although as of the end of 2024, the number of registered unemployed in Ukraine reached another record low of 94.2 thousand people, the actual unemployment rate is estimated at 14-18% (as a percentage of the economically active population), and the real number of unemployed is 1.8-2.2 million people. That is, 20 times more than the number of registered unemployed.
