In the first half of 2024, more than 87,000 children were born in Ukraine, with Kyiv becoming the leader in the birth rate. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to statistical data from Opendatabot.
The leaders in the number of births in the first six months of the year were Kyiv (9,695 children) and Lviv region (7,923 children). Dnipropetrovska oblast rounds out the top three, with 6952 babies born in the first six months of the year.
Kherson (221 children) and Donetsk (702 children) regions became outsiders. In Luhansk region, no babies were registered in the first six months of the year.
Compared to 2023, the birth rate in Ukraine this year decreased by 9%. In addition, 132 thousand children were born in Ukraine in the first half of 2021. In 2018-2020, there were two deaths per child. This ratio is one of the key indicators of the demographic crisis.

In the last days of July, the National Bank of Ukraine released dataaccording to which another 700,000 Ukrainians will move abroad in 2024-2025 due to electricity problems and hostilities in Ukraine.
While in April 2024, the National Bank expected an outflow of 200,000 people this year and an inflow of 400,000 next year, it now estimates the outflow this year at 400,000 and next year at 300,000 Ukrainians.
It is predicted that the return of migrants to Ukraine will begin only in 2026 and will be gradual.
