Where most companies are abandoning the Russian footprint: analysis of regions

Over the past six months, 93 companies have officially gotten rid of the “Russian trace,” although some cases raise questions about their legality. Most of these companies are registered in Kyiv and Odesa – 59.1% in total. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the service for monitoring the registration data of Ukrainian companies, Openatabot.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 18 thousand companies with Russian owners were registered in Ukraine. As of May 2024, the total number of such companies reached 621. Over the past six months, 93 companies have made registration changes, formally removing their ties to Russia.
Where businesses have been getting rid of the Russian trace the most
The capital of Ukraine has the largest number of companies that have officially renounced Russian influence – 47 (50.5%). Odesa region is in second place with 8 companies (8.6%), and Poltava region closes the top three with 5 companies (5.4%).

The largest share of such companies operates in the wholesale trade sector (19.4%). Real estate is second (12.9%), and construction is third (9.7%).

Public tenders: which companies with a Russian background are leading the way
Despite the official moratorium on the change of ownership from Russia, some companies continue to win state tenders:
- TEXTOR LTD: 7 tenders worth UAH 19.6 million.
- VELESGARD LLC: 1 tender for UAH 19.3 million.
- ERA MOBILE LTD: 37 tenders for UAH 1.9 million.
- BRATSLAV ALC: 27 tenders for UAH 1.7 million.
- TEPLOVENTMONTAZH LLC: 10 tenders for UAH 1 million.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has been banning the change of ownership in companies with Russian capital, except in exceptional cases. However, some businesses use fictitious methods to circumvent these restrictions.
Opendatabot reported that in 2024, only 10 audits of such changes were conducted, of which 8 were found to be illegal. However, it was not possible to cancel the registration actions due to the missed deadline.
