“Black Day”: Centrenergo lost 100% of generation

As a result of Russian missile attacks and other military operations, all generation facilities of the energy company Centrenergo were destroyed. This was reported by the company’s press service, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
Thus, today it became known that the Russian strikes completely destroyed Trypillia TPP in Kyiv region, which belonged to Centrenergo.
“As a result of the hits, a large-scale fire broke out in the turbine shop. The company is currently working to localise the fire. Trypillia TPP was the largest supplier of electricity to Kyiv, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions,”
– the company said.
Andriy Gota, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Centrenergo, said the destruction was huge.
“The scale of the destruction is terrible. Money can’t estimate it. This is the biggest challenge for us in the history of the company. But I am convinced that we will cope with it,”
– he said.
Centrenergo owns three thermal power plants: Trypilska, Zmiivska and Vuhlehirska. Zmiivska TPP in Kharkiv region was destroyed in an attack on 22 March 2024. Vuhlehirska TPP in Donetsk region was occupied by Russian troops on 25 July 2022.
As a result, Centrenergo has not a single station left in operation.
According to the former Energy Minister, the situation at Trypillia TPP is critical.
Ukrenergo urged Ukrainians to save electricity during peak hours.

Public Joint Stock Company Centrenergo is an energy generating company in Ukraine, 78% of which is owned by the state. Centrenergo’s core business is the generation, distribution and supply of electricity, with a share of 99.28% in total commercial output in 2015.
The company’s share in the total electricity production of Ukraine is about 8%, and in the structure of thermal generation – about 18%. In 2015, the company supplied 7,627 million kWh of electricity to the market.
Prior to its destruction, Trypillia TPP was the largest electricity producer in the central power system, which includes Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions.
