Another fake of z-propaganda about massive missile strikes on Ukraine: how Russia is trying to manipulate through its own problems with missiles and aircraft

ANALYSIS FROM Komersant ukrainskyi

Russians are spreading fake news that Russia will no longer launch massive missile attacks on Ukraine. In particular, this was written by z-blogger Alex Parker.

“There will be no more massive missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine. Unless the Ukrainians (- ed.) do something completely out of the ordinary, like the last argument in response. A massive strike is also possible if the Ukrainians (-ed.) refuse to sit down at the negotiating table, which is also an argument. The strategic aviation was told to exhale and relax,” the report said.

[Kommersant] has analyzed in detail what such statements by Russian military commanders can actually mean.

Taras Zagorodny, managing partner of the National Anti-Crisis Group, explained in an exclusive commentary for Komersant ukrainskyi that Russians shell Ukraine every day, so the statement by Russian military commanders about the cessation of shelling of Ukrainian territories is most likely due to their own inability to carry out these massive attacks. Russia does have missiles, but it may face serious problems due to a lack of aviation fuel and technical limitations at military airfields.

“The problem is that Russia may have missiles, but it has significant difficulties with aviation fuel and aircraft resources. In recent months, airfields in Russia have been repeatedly attacked, which has caused additional complications,” Zagorodniy said.

The expert explained that the strikes on oil refineries disrupted technological processes, which complicated the production of aviation fuel.

“According to my information, Russia no longer produces aviation fuel in sufficient quantities, in particular because of the sanctions that led to equipment breakdowns. Aviation fuel requires a very high level of purification, so they are now forced to buy it from Belarus,” he added.

Why Russia uses UAVs rather than missiles more often during shelling

Zagorodniy also noted that despite having missiles, Russia is forced to limit their use.

“If you look at the dynamics of missile use, Russia is now using Shahed drones more, and missiles are used much less frequently. This indicates that the Russians are trying to save missiles and use them more sparingly – once or twice a month, not as often as they could,” he explained.

What military experts say and why we should not panic

Roman Svitan, military expert, pilot-instructor and colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in reserve, exclusively for [Kommersant] said that the situation with the rocket attacks that Russia continues to launch at Ukraine is a clear confirmation of terrorist aggression. The military expert also commented on the refusal, rather than an order, of Russian pilots to perform certain combat missions, noting that this is likely due to the elimination of pilots involved in terrorist attacks.

“Recently, more than one Russian serviceman has been eliminated on Russian territory. Especially those who were directly involved in terrorist attacks on civilians in Dnipro,” he said.

Russian shelling: what to expect next

According to the expert, Russia is not currently using massive missile capabilities, although it has sufficient ammunition. This indicates the high efficiency of the Ukrainian air defense system.

“Russia is trying to extinguish our defense with shakedowns, to draw a large number of destruction means – missiles and anti-missiles,” Svitan explained.

However, in his opinion, Russia’s missile attacks will not be more massive than those that have been in recent years. The problem for the aggressor country is the limited number of missile carriers – aircraft and ships that can launch them.

Svitan also emphasizes that an attack by cruise missiles is not as scary for Ukrainian air defense as massive strikes by Shahedi drones. After all, such a large number of UAVs tests the ability of air defense systems to cope with a large number of targets.

“We have an average level of air defense, which, although not the best in the world, is quite resistant to Russian attacks. So I don’t think anything catastrophic will happen,” Svitan said.

However, he noted that if strategic bombers are raised, precautions must be taken, in particular, against the fall of debris or parts of anti-missiles.

What the National Security and Defense Council says

Meanwhile, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council , advised against believing Russian propagandists. According to him, the “parker” post contains an ultimatum. And Russia continues to accumulate missiles at strategic aviation airfields.

“The number of missiles is already enough to carry out a shelling, and the aircraft itself is also ready,” Kovalenko said.

Therefore, the statements of Russian propagandists about the cessation of massive missile attacks look more like an attempt to manipulate public opinion than a real recognition of the abandonment of aggressive policy. However, as the analysis of the situation shows, Russia’s restrictions on missile use are most likely due to resource problems rather than a political decision.
